GARY, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team is headed to the 2025 NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament as the 10-seed in the Liston Quadrant. The RedHawks will take on 7-seed Florida Memorial in the first round on Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m. CT in Henderson, Tennessee, hosted by Freed-Hardeman University.
IU Northwest (23-7) enters the national tournament after a strong campaign in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The RedHawks secured a 4th-place finish in the CCAC, reached the conference semifinals, and posted a 15-5 record in league play. They also ranked 32nd in the final RPI ratings. The RedHawks are seeking their first NAIA National Tournament win since 2019.
Jessica Carrothers was named the CCAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, leading the nation in scoring with 31.1 points per game. Tiara Jackson earned CCAC Second Team honors, averaging 17.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Florida Memorial (23-4) claimed both the Sun Conference regular season and tournament championships, finishing 13-3 in league play. The Lions closed the season ranked 24th in the final RPI ratings and were in the receiving votes category of the final NAIA Coaches' Poll.
A key player to watch for Florida Memorial is Kamesha Moore, the Sun Conference Player of the Year. Moore is averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, leading a high-powered Lions attack.
The winner of Friday's matchup will advance to the second round to face the winner of 2-seed Freed-Hardeman and 15-seed Johnson University (Tenn.).
The Liston Quadrant is highlighted by 1-seed Indiana Wesleyan, whom IU Northwest played and lost to earlier this season. Other familiar opponents in the quadrant include 9-seed Olivet Nazarene, with whom the RedHawks split the regular season series, and 14-seed Indiana Tech, whom IU Northwest defeated early in the season.
