GARY, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team dropped a home contest Wednesday night, as IU South Bend used a strong second-half push to secure a conference win inside the Savannah Center.
The RedHawks battled throughout and showed early energy, attacking the rim and forcing turnovers in the opening quarter. A transition layup midway through the first period brought the home crowd to its feet and gave Indiana Northwest an early edge. The RedHawks continued to pressure defensively, turning a steal into points on the other end to stay in front after one.
IU South Bend responded in the second quarter with improved perimeter shooting, trimming the deficit and eventually pulling even before halftime. Indiana Northwest answered with a timely 3-pointer from the wing to momentarily regain momentum, but the Titans closed the half on a brief run to carry a narrow lead into the break.
The game remained tight through the third quarter. The RedHawks found success inside, converting on second-chance opportunities and drawing contact in the paint to keep pace. A strong drive and finish through traffic cut the margin to one possession late in the period.
In the fourth, however, IU South Bend created separation. The Titans capitalized on consecutive defensive stops and converted at the free-throw line down the stretch, while Indiana Northwest struggled to find consistent offense in the final minutes.
Isabella Soria led the RedHawks with a team-high scoring effort, finishing in double figures while adding key rebounds and defensive pressure. EJ Brown-Griffin anchored the interior with a strong performance on the glass, pulling down a team-best rebounding total to go along with her points in the paint. Jamarea LaCaze provided additional scoring inside, and Aniyah Hinton-Henry added in 12 points off the bench.
Indiana Northwest will look to regroup as conference play continues, aiming to translate its early-game energy into a full 40-minute performance in its next outing.
