Box Score GARY, Ind. – Jessica Carrothers turned in another stellar performance, pouring in 41 points to lead Indiana Northwest to a dominant 94-39 victory over Trinity Christian (IL) on Saturday afternoon at the Savannah Center.
Carrothers, who has now topped 40 points in back-to-back games, shot an efficient 19-of-22 from the field while adding 12 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Her efforts helped the RedHawks (19-5, 12-4 CCAC) control the game from the opening tip, extending their winning streak and solidifying their position in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings.
Indiana Northwest jumped out to a commanding 32-15 lead in the first quarter behind Carrothers and forward Tiara Jackson, who also delivered a strong outing with 21 points and 13 rebounds. The RedHawks continued to build on their advantage, outscoring the Trolls in each quarter, including a dominant 28-7 fourth period.
The RedHawks overwhelmed Trinity Christian inside, outscoring the Trolls 50-14 in the paint while also converting 27 points off turnovers. Their defensive pressure held the visitors to just 21% shooting for the game, including a 14% mark in the second and fourth quarters.
Alyna Santiago contributed six points and six rebounds for Indiana Northwest, while Madelyn Murray and Amari Cole each added six and eight points off the bench, respectively. The RedHawks' reserves played a key role in maintaining the pace, outscoring Trinity Christian's bench 20-11.
For the Trolls (2-20, 2-14 CCAC), Bibi Mercado led the way with 10 points, while Desire Berrien posted nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Kyla Smith added seven points, but Trinity Christian struggled to find any rhythm offensively, making just 5-of-19 attempts from three-point range and committing 16 turnovers.
Indiana Northwest will look to keep rolling as they hit the road to face Judson University on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT in Elgin, Ill.
