IUN battles the second seeded Pride, who come into the first round with a 27-4 record. Both teams dropped their respective conference championship games, as the RedHawks lost to IU South Bend and Clarke fell to Central Methodist.
For the Pride they have three who score in double figures led by Tina Ubl, who is averaging just under 13 points per game. Nicole McDermott, meanwhile, is pulling down a team-best 7.4 rebounds and scoring 10.6 per game.
RedHawks rode a season-long 10-game winning streak from Jan. 7 – Feb. 11, which included a pair of 100-point games against Trinity International and Calumet. During that stretch
Sarah Martin scored 17 a game, while
Tiara Jackson averaged a double-double to go along with 15 blocks.
If IUN picks up the two wins in Dubuque, Iowa, the RedHawks stay in Iowa and travel to Sioux City for the round of 16 through the national championship.
