Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. -- Michaela Schmidt and Lauren Smolen both led the way for the IU Northwest women's basketball team with each of them recording double-doubles but the RedHawks fell on the road to host St. Xavier, 81-62, at the Shannon Center, Saturday. Schmidt led all scorers with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Smolen scored 11 points and grabbed 10 boards.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN
FIRST QUARTER (St. Xavier 25, IU Northwest 12)
- SXU jumped out to a 15-0 lead before Lauren Smolen made a layup to end the drought.
- A few minutes later, IU Northwest made a 10-0 run of their own to make it 19-12 in favor of St. Xavier.
- The Cougars closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 25-12 lead after the first period.
SECOND QUARTER
- Desa Geisler started the second quarter with a basket for the RedHawks.
- A couple minutes later, Geisler cut it back down to single digits after nailing a three-pointer to make it 29-21 at the 7:13 mark.
- Smolen would made a layup to make it back to seven points but SXU made another run.
- The Cougars scored eight in a row to grab a 37-23 lead with 2:15 left before the break.
- Sydney Van Meter ended that run by making a three-pointer to cut it back to an 11-point lead.
- Karli Miller looked to give the RedHawks some momentum going into the second half as she made a layup as time was expiring.
THIRD QUARTER
- SXU started the second half on a 9-2 run to stretch it out to a 50-32 lead.
- Michaela Schmidt knocked down a pair at the free-throw line to end the drought for the RedHawks.
- Van Meter tried to keep IU Northwest in the game after she hit a three-pointer but SXU had the answer.
- The Cougars led 68-48 after the third quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Saint Xavier started the fourth quarter with a three-pointer before Schmidt made a layup.
- SXU would continue to hold onto their double-digit lead.
- IU Northwest scored eight points in a row capped of by a layup by Kaitlyn Foutz to make it a 77-62 game with under two minutes left.
- The Cougars scored the final two buckets of the game and won the game 81-62.
