Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The No. 11 seed Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team pulled off another upset in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament this time in the quarterfinals against No. 4 seed Cardinal Stritch, 35-33, Thursday.

Michaela Schmidt opened up the scoring for IU Northwest then Cardinal Stritch quickly responded with back-to-back buckets to grab a 5-2 lead. Lauren Smolen and Schmidt had the answer with baskets to regain the lead but after that the RedHawks were unable to score.
Cardinal Stritch closed out the opening quarter with a 9-6 lead.
IU Northwest tried to fight back into the game but the Wolves would hold onto their margin. Cardinal Stritch led 13-10 with 4:23 to play then the RedHawks played stellar defense the rest of the half.
IUN closed out the half scoring the last seven points to grab a 17-13 lead at the break after back-to-back layups by Karli Miller then Smolen made one.
Schmidt made a layup to start the second half for the RedHawks then Cardinal Stritch quickly responded with a three-pointer. Moments later, Samantha Martin made it 23-16 midway through third quarter.
The Wolves responded right away with a basket then Smolen made a layup to make it 25-18 IU Northwest at the end of the third quarter.
Cardinal Stritch opened up the fourth quarter with a three-pointer then IU Northwest would add five straight points by Schmidt including a huge and-one play to put the RedHawks ahead 30-21 with 7:56 to go. The Wolves did not go away as they rallied for a 9-0 run to tie the game at 30-all with three minutes left in the contest.
With a minute left in the game, Karli Miller hit the biggest shot of the season for IU Northwest as she hit a three-pointer to make it 33-30. Moments later, Martin knocked down a pair of clutch free throws with 29 seconds left to give the RedHawks a two-possession lead.
The Wolves hit a three-pointer a few seconds later but IU Northwest was able to hold Cardinal Stritch the final 25 seconds as the RedHawks pulled off the 35-33 victory.
