Women's Basketball Drops Final Regular Season Game of Year Saturday

GARY, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team were unable to hold onto an early lead as Judson came out on top, 56-41, Saturday.

QUARTER BREAKDOWN

FIRST QUARTER (IU Northwest 18, Judson 13)

  •  Judson started on a 11-4 run to start the game.
  •  Karli Miller scored five points in a row then Samantha Martin made a basket to tie the game at 11-all. 
  •  Michaela Schmidt added five more points for the RedHawks to cap off a 12-0 run which made it 16-11 IU Northwest.
  •  The Eagles responded with a basket to end the run then Martin ended the scoring in the quarter with a basket which made it 18-13 at the end of the first.

SECOND QUARTER (Judson 12, IU Northwest 6) 

  •  Lauren Smolen started the scoring in the second quarter for both teams to make it 20-13.
  •  Judson scored the next seven points to tie it at 20-all. 
  •  Schmidt ended the scoring drought for IU Northwest after making a basket to give the RedHawks the 22-20 lead.
  •  The Eagles scored the next five points to capture a 25-22 lead late in the first half.
  • Miller scored the last two points of the half after knocking down a pair at the line as the RedHawks trailed by one (25-24). 

THIRD QUARTER (Judson 16, IU Northwest 10)

  • Meghan Long started the second half with a basket to regain the lead for the RedHawks.  
  • Judson responded again with another run this time 6-0 for a five-point lead. 
  • Martin kept it close after making a three-pointer midway through the third quarter to make it a one-point game.
  • The Eagles closed out the half on a 10-4 run to grab a 41-34 lead at the end of the third.

FOURTH QUARTER (Judson 15, IU Northwest 7)

  • Judson took control of the game in the fourth quarter. 
  • Martin tried to keep the game within reach as her jumper made it still single digits.  
  • The Eagles scored the final six points of the game to grab a 15-point lead and that would hold for the rest of the game. 
  • Judson came out on top 56-41.

FINAL SCORE (Judson 56, IU Northwest 41)
