GAME RECAP
IU Northwest started the game with a basket by Meghan Long then TIU scored nine unanswered to go up 9-2. Michaela Schmidt and Karli Miller put an end to that run with back-to-back baskets.
Long and Lauren Smolen capped off a 7-0 run for the RedHawks the rest of the first quarter. The RedHawks led 10-9 after one.
Schmidt and Tiara Jackson started the second quarter with back-to-back layups to make it 15-9 RedHawks capping off a 12-0 run throughout two quarters. The Trojans looked to get back into the game after making a layup but a pair of free throws by Miller and a basket by Sarah Martin made it 19-11.
Schmidt converted on an and-one and hit a layup off the pass from Alyna Santiago to make it 24-11 IU Northwest with 3:08 left before the break.
TIU responded with back-to-back baskets to make it 25-15. That score would hold with the RedHawks leading 25-15 at the break.
IU Northwest started the second half with a 6-0 run capped off by a basket by Katelyn Halfacre to extend their lead to 31-15. The Trojans bounced back with a 7-0 run to cut it to 31-22 with under four minutes left in the third period.
Samantha Martin ended the RedHawks drought after converting on a second chance opportunity. IU Northwest led 34-26 at the end of the third quarter.
TIU started the final quarter with a three-pointer to cut it to 34-29 in favor of the RedHawks. Back-to-back layups by Schmidt extended the lead back out to nine (41-32) with 4:33 left in the game.
The Trojans went on a 5-1 run to cut it back to five (42-37 IUN) with 2:41 left. IU Northwest went back up by nine after Schmidt made a pair of free throws.
Trinity International did not go away as the Trojans scored four straight points to cut it back down to five (46-41 IUN). The RedHawks eventually won the game 48-41.
