Box Score Gary, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team used huge second and third quarters to run past Judson Saturday afternoon. The RedHawks (6-7, 3-4 CCAC) defeated the Eagles (0-11, 0-7 CCAC), 77-61, at the Savannah Center.
Both teams traded early rallies in the first quarter then after the period ended both teams were tied 26-26.
IUN picked it up on defense in the second quarter as the RedHawks outscored the Eagles 18-6.
The RedHawks also had a big third quarter on offense and defense as IUN outscored Judson 24-16.
Judson was able to have the advantage in the fourth quarter as the Eagles outscored the RedHawks 13-9 in the final period.
IUN shot 57.1 percent (32-56) for the game while holding Judson to 41.4 percent (24-58).
Three players recorded double figures for IUN. Breanna Boles (Lapel, Ind.) led the RedHawks with a team high 20 points on 9-12 shooting.
Michaela Schmidt (Highland, Ind./Highland) also had a huge game for the RedHawks, recording double figures as the freshman scored 16 points. Lauren Smolen (Crown Point, Ind./Lake Central) had a near double-double as she added 10 points on 5-7 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.
IUN returns to action Wednesday, December 18 as the RedHawks travel to Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois to take on the Lakers starting at 5:30 p.m. CT.
