GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Indiana University Northwest cross country teams competed at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge hosted by Aquinas College on Saturday, continuing their strong late-season momentum against a deep field of regional talent.
In the women's 6K race, freshman Jocelyn Martinez highlighted the day for the RedHawks, setting a new school record and personal lifetime best time. Martinez's performance powered IU Northwest to a 22nd-place team finish in a competitive 23-team field. Her milestone capped a steady progression of improvement over the season and established a new benchmark for the program.
On the men's side, the RedHawks navigated the challenging 8K course against one of the most competitive fields of the fall. IU Northwest's lineup continued to build experience and endurance ahead of postseason competition, showing improved pacing and consistency through the middle splits.
The RedHawks now turn their focus to the CCAC Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University at Aspen Ridge Golf Course in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
