Carrothers transfers to IUN

GARY, Ind. – The runner-up to the 2022 Indiana Miss Basketball crown and Butler transfer Jessica Carrothers has signed with the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team which was announced Wednesday by RedHawks head coach Jesse Ford.

Carrothers, who played her freshman season with the Bulldogs, was selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team after averaging 7.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game over 25 contests during the 2022-23 season. She also dished 51 assists and picked up a team-best 29 steals.

Prior to Butler, the Crown Point, Ind. native led Crown Point High School to the 4A Indiana State Championship as a junior and was a two-time all-state selection. She finished her career with 2,335 points, which is 16th all-time in state history and scored a career-high 42 points against Lake Central High School in the regional championship game.

Following the 2021 season, Carrothers garnered the Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the Year award and was two-time choice for the Indiana All-Star Team.

"Jessica Carrothers was a completely dominant high school player and one of the best in the state of Indiana over the last few years," Ford said. "She proved herself again while competing in the BIG EAST, one of the best NCAA DI conferences in the country. She has a supportive group of family and friends in The Region, and I'm excited that she'll be able to join her sister and compete in front of them every week. It's easy to be a fan of Jessica. We're obviously very fortunate to have her join our program next year, and she completely raises the ceiling for our goals and expectations next season."
