Chicago, Ill. - The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) has selected Robyn Griffin, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications as the league's 2025-26 Sports Information Director of the Year, recognizing a year of outstanding achievement, innovation, leadership, and service to RedHawk Athletics, the CCAC, Indiana University, and the broader collegiate athletics community.

Throughout the past academic year, Griffin significantly elevated the visibility of IU Northwest Athletics through strategic storytelling, media relations, and digital engagement initiatives. Her efforts generated valuable local and regional media coverage for RedHawks Athletics while showcasing the accomplishments of IU Northwest student-athletes and programs.

Griffin's impact was particularly evident across social and digital media platforms. Under her leadership, RedHawk Athletics' Instagram account experienced remarkable growth, recording a 10,200% increase in audience growth, more than 3.2 million impressions, and 4.1 million engagements across 710 published posts during the fiscal year. She also played a key role in promoting the NAIA's "The Right Way to Play" campaign through all IU Northwest communications channels, helping the institution earn a top five national ranking in campaign impressions.

Beyond campus, Griffin has distinguished herself through exceptional service to the profession. She provided statistical support for the CCAC, contributed to volleyball record-keeping initiatives, and was selected to serve as an At-Large Representative on the NAIA-SIDA Executive Board. As a 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Grant Recipient, Griffin also served on multiple CSC committees, including Creative & Digital Design, Goodwill, and NAIA Divisional Day.

Her responsibilities extend well beyond traditional communications duties. Griffin oversees game-day operations, including live statistics, streaming production, and multimedia content creation, while also serving on the founding committee for the inaugural IU Regional Athletics Banquet, an event designed to unite Indiana University's regional campuses in celebrating student-athlete excellence.

Indiana University Northwest Director of Athletics Ryan Shelton praised Griffin's contributions and impact on the department. "In Robyn's first year at IU Northwest, she embraced the RedHawk spirit from day one, working tirelessly to promote our student-athletes, teams, and university while elevating the visibility of our athletics program across the region and nationally," Shelton said. "Robyn is highly respected by her peers throughout the CCAC and across the country. Her creativity, professionalism, work ethic, and commitment to excellence set her apart in our profession. Griffin shared her own reaction to the honor, "I am beyond honored to receive this recognition from my peers across the CCAC. As a fellow RedHawk alumna, this university and this department have always felt like home, so helping grow the visibility of IU Northwest Athletics means something personal to me. I love what I do on the administrative side, and I'm grateful to do it for a program I once called my own."

Griffin's excellence has also been recognized on the national stage. In addition to being selected as a 2026 CSC Grant Recipient, she was honored as a member of the prestigious CSC 30 Under 30 Class of 2025, recognizing emerging leaders in collegiate athletic communications.
