MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — The Indiana University Northwest Athletics Department hosted its third annual RedHawk Golf Classic on Monday, June 1, at Innsbrook Country Club, bringing together supporters, alumni, student-athletes, coaches and members of the campus community for a day of golf and giving.
The annual outing serves as a key fundraiser for the RedHawk athletic program, with proceeds directly supporting student-athlete scholarships across IU Northwest's basketball, soccer, volleyball and cross-country programs.
Participants began the day with breakfast before taking to the course for a shotgun start tournament featuring course games and contests, including longest drive, closest to the pin and a golf ball cannon challenge. Mulligans and additional on-course opportunities provided golfers with more ways to contribute to the continued success of RedHawk student-athletes.
The event's success was made possible through the generosity of sponsors, including the James W. and Betty Dye Foundation, McMahon and Associates, Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, Powers Health, Hammond Machine Works, Eclipse Charter and Tours, Marcus Allard Truck Rental and many others.
"We're incredibly grateful to our sponsors, donors and community members who came out to support our student-athletes and help us raise funds for scholarships," said IU Northwest Director of Athletics Ryan Shelton. "The RedHawk Golf Classic allows us to strengthen our connection with the Northwest Indiana community while investing in the development of our student-athletes and enhancing their academic and athletic experience. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this year's event."
The day concluded with a luncheon and raffle featuring prizes such as Chicago White Sox tickets, Indiana University football tickets, Chicago Cubs box seats, RedHawk gear, a signed basketball from NBA All-Star Darius Garland and a signed Indiana University football from 2026 national championship-winning head coach Curt Cignetti.
