RedHawks Power Past Calumet in Four Sets on the Road

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

WHITING, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest volleyball shook off a slow start Thursday night and stormed back to defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-11) at the Rittenmeyer Center. The win keeps the RedHawks tied for third place in the CCAC standings alongside Saint Francis (Ill.).

Calumet (1-13, 0-7 CCAC) opened strong, taking the first set 25-20 behind the attack of Berta Comino Couceiro, who notched multiple kills in the frame. IU Northwest (8-12, 5-2 CCAC) regrouped in the second, using back-to-back service aces from Kaelan Murphy and steady swings from Lindsey Krueger and Baileigh Uporsky to pull away 25-17.

The RedHawks dominated the third set, hitting .387 as Trinitie Lintner and Raniyah Preston combined for key kills at the net. A service ace from Eva Everett capped the frame 25-13.

In the fourth, IUN left no doubt. A balanced attack and stifling front-row defense led by Lintner and Uporsky closed out the Crimson Wave 25-11, sealing the road win.

Preston paced the RedHawks with 10 kills and 21 assists, while Lintner hit .467 with nine kills and two blocks. Murphy added five kills and a team-high six aces, and Uporsky contributed five kills with six total blocks. Everett anchored the defense with 17 digs and three service aces.

IU Northwest will return home on Tuesday, Sept. 30, to host Judson University at 7 p.m. inside the Savannah Center.
