RICHMOND, Ind. – IU Northwest men's and women's cross country opened the 2025 season with a strong showing Friday at the Pat Thomas Invitational, hosted by Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.
On the women's side, Jocelyn Martinez led the RedHawks with a fourth-place finish, clocking 22 minutes, 36.4 seconds. She was followed closely by Katie Plopper, who placed fifth in 22:50.6, and Addison Waddell, who secured sixth in 22:58.1. Madalyn Addison added an 11th-place effort at 24:40.2, while Amy Mojica crossed in 17th at 29:01.3 to round out IU Northwest's women's squad.
The men were paced by Jaiden Harmon, who placed 13th overall with a time of 19:42.2. Teammate Jordan Warnell finished 24th in 27:34.3.
"The Pat Thomas was a great season opener for both teams," states Coach Dickerson. "The women competed together and pushed each other throughout the race, all coming within a minutes of their personal bests. The men's team had a really strong effort and competed well in a smaller race. I know this is only the beginning of a great season the IUN Cross Country"
The RedHawks continue their fall schedule on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat Twilight Invitational in Marion, Indiana. The first race is set for 6 p.m.
