ELGIN, Ill. – Indiana Northwest showcased a dominant all-around performance Wednesday night, rolling past Judson 75-38 at the Lindner Fitness Center. With the victory, the RedHawks improved to 20-5 overall and 13-4 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play, while Judson dropped to 6-19 (3-14 CCAC).
From the opening tip, Indiana Northwest controlled the pace of the game, using a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to build an early lead. The RedHawks jumped out to a 20-9 advantage after the first quarter and extended their lead to 41-20 by halftime. Their defensive intensity reached another level in the third quarter, as they held Judson to just one field goal and four total points, allowing them to stretch the lead to 36 heading into the final period.
The RedHawks were led by another stellar performance from Jessica Carrothers, who poured in a game-high 20 points on 9-of-19 shooting while adding five rebounds and three assists. Katelyn Halfacre was lights out from beyond the arc, knocking down six of her nine three-point attempts to finish with 18 points. Tiara Jackson dominated inside, posting a monster double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. Ava Kingery also contributed nine points, while Maggie Grady provided a spark off the bench with six points and three rebounds.
As a team, Indiana Northwest shot an efficient 46.8% (29-of-62) from the field and 45.5% (10-of-22) from three-point range. Their defensive effort was equally impressive, holding Judson to just 23.2% (13-of-56) shooting overall and 22.7% (5-of-22) from deep. The RedHawks won the rebounding battle 46-32 and outscored the Eagles 28-10 in the paint.
Judson struggled to find offensive consistency, with Brooke Heiman leading the team with nine points. Jayda Centeno and Paula Bernal Rodrigalvarez each finished with seven, while Demiah Hawkins grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. The Eagles' shooting woes were most apparent in the third quarter when they made just one of their 15 field-goal attempts.
Indiana Northwest's largest lead of the game came early in the fourth quarter when they went up by 39 points with 8:30 remaining. Despite a late push from Judson, the RedHawks comfortably closed out the game to secure their fourth consecutive victory.
With just three regular-season games remaining, Indiana Northwest will return home on Saturday, Feb. 15, for a key CCAC matchup against Saint Ambrose. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT at the Savannah Center.
