IU Northwest Bookstore Recap: Carrothers' 36 Points Lead Indiana Northwest Past St. Ambrose

GARY, Ind.Jessica Carrothers delivered a dominant performance with 36 points and eight assists, leading Indiana Northwest to a commanding 77-51 victory over St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Saturday afternoon at the Savannah Center.

The RedHawks (21-5, 14-4 CCAC) secured their fourth consecutive win with an efficient offensive showing, shooting 54.1% from the field while holding the Fighting Bees (8-17, 6-12 CCAC) to 35.2%. Carrothers shot 17-of-27 from the floor, adding four steals and three rebounds in a well-rounded effort. Tiara Jackson posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint. Alyna Santiago, Ava Kingery, and Katelyn Halfacre each contributed six points.

Indiana Northwest came out firing, hitting 71.4% of its shots in the first quarter to take a 24-17 lead. While St. Ambrose kept pace in the second quarter, the RedHawks locked in defensively in the second half, outscoring the Bees 38-18 over the final two periods. Indiana Northwest forced 20 turnovers and turned them into 24 points, while also dominating inside with a 38-16 advantage in points in the paint.

St. Ambrose was led by Abby Wolter, who scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Olivia Harter added 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Caitlyn Thole contributed eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Despite a solid first half, the Fighting Bees struggled down the stretch, managing just 10 points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth.

The victory keeps Indiana Northwest in the hunt for the CCAC regular-season title as the RedHawks now sit one game behind first-place Governors State. The two teams will meet in a pivotal matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in University Park, Ill., at 5:30 p.m. CT. A win would propel Indiana Northwest into sole possession of first place with one game remaining in the regular season.
