GARY, Ind. - Indiana University Northwest women's volleyball was back at home in the Savannah Center Thursday night after a two-game road trip, looking to get back in the win column against Saint Ambrose University. The Fighting Bees entered the match on a two-game win streak, while the RedHawks aimed to regain momentum after losing to rival IU South Bend.
All three sets were close, but the RedHawks finished strong, winning 25-22, 26-24, and 25-21. The second set was the Fighting Bees best chance to gain momentum; however, the RedHawks closed out the set with consecutive points after being tied 24-24.
Seniors
Erica Packwood and
Briah Strezo led the attack with eight kills and one ace each. Packwood also made a significant contribution for the RedHawks, tallying a team high 15 digs. Additionally, seniors
Josephine Mulligan and
Karly Jevert had a game-high two blocks.
IUN improved to 9-12 overall and 2-3 in the CCAC, while Saint Ambrose fell to 7-11 overall and 2-4 in the CCAC.
The RedHawks are currently in sixth place in the conference and will have an opportunity to climb the standings in their next match as they host Olivet Nazarene University, who is one place ahead of them. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. in the Savannah Center.
