GARY, Ind. - The RedHawks were at home for the second consecutive match after their victory last Thursday over Saint Ambrose University. They faced Olivet Nazarene University with an opportunity to win and move ahead of the Tigers in the CCAC standings.
The Tigers started strong, winning the first set 25-22, but the RedHawks would respond by taking the second set 25-20. IU Northwest went on to win the remaining two sets in close fashion, with scores of 27-25 and 25-23.
Sophomore middle blocker
Baileigh Uporsky was a key player in the match, tying her season-high with nine blocks. Senior setter
Josephine Mulligan led the team with 11 kills, while senior setter
Erica Packwood led the match with 18 assists.
Briah Strezo topped the RedHawks with 20 digs.
The victory marks the RedHawks' second consecutive win, improving their overall record to 10-12 and their conference record to .500 at 3-3. They currently sit in fifth place in the CCAC standings.
The RedHawks will begin a two-match road trip on Thursday night, traveling to University Park, Illinois, to face Governors State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CDT.
