ELGIN, Ill. – Indiana University Northwest traveled to Elgin, Illinois, on Tuesday night to take on CCAC opponent Judson University. The Eagles swept the RedHawks last season and this meeting ended similarly, with Judson sweeping IUN 3-0. 

The Eagles were dominant from start to finish, never trailing in any of the three sets. Senior opposite hitter Alyssa Gerzel and junior outside hitter Yomailis Fernandez led the Judson attack with game-highs of 10 kills each. Gerzel also added a game-high 15 digs.

Judson made a statement in the first set, winning 25-12, and carried that momentum through to the finish. The RedHawks showed improvement as the match went on, but they fell short in the second set, 25-19.  Despite putting together their best effort in the third set, they lost 25-21, completing the sweep for the Eagles. 

RedHawks senior outside hitter Jaelyn Donald and senior setter Erica Packwood led the team with eight kills each. Senior libero Chloe Roberts led the defense with 11 digs. 

After winning their first conference match, the RedHawks have now dropped two straight, putting them at 8-11 overall and 1-2 in the CCAC. 

IUN will look to bounce back to .500 in conference play in their next match on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when they will travel to face Indiana University South Bend. Start time is set for 6 p.m. CT.
