GARY, Ind. – Four of the five starters for the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team hit double figures in the 78-66 conference victory over Judson Wednesday evening inside the Savannah Center.
The Eagles took a one-point with just under four minutes left in the opening quarter, but
Tiara Jackson erased the deficit with a bucket in the paint on the next trip down the floor. Jackson finished the night with 10 points.
The RedHawks would not trail for the rest of the contest and were able to take a 17-point cushion into the locker room after
Jessica Carrothers sank two of her game-high 36 points at the buzzer.
IUN was able to push the lead to 21 early in the third when
Makayla Best drove hard to basket on a fast break. Best also had an assist in that same quarter as she finished the evening with 10 points and four assists.
After
Samantha Martin tickled the twine for two of her 10, the RedHawks found themselves up by 28 with 7:05 remaining the game. Judson, however, would go on a long run and got within 10 before Carrothers sank two free throws to ice the game,
With the victory and a Holy Cross loss, IUN is alone in fifth place in the CCAC standings with three games left. The next action for the RedHawks is a Saturday afternoon contest at St. Ambrose starting at 1 p.m.
