Eclipse Charters and Tours Recap: Indiana Northwest Defeats #12 Indiana Tech, 64-52, to Go 2-0 at WHAC/CCAC Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Indiana Northwest secured a signature victory Saturday, defeating No. 12 Indiana Tech 64-52 in the WHAC/CCAC Classic at the Schaefer Center. With the win, the RedHawks moved to 2-0 on the season and completed the Classic with an unblemished record.

Jessica Carrothers powered Indiana Northwest with a stellar 31-point performance, shooting 13-of-24 from the field and adding two three-pointers. Carrothers also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double and contributed five assists. Tiara Jackson added key support with 17 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting, while also collecting six rebounds.

The RedHawks took control in the first quarter, building a 17-9 lead, but Indiana Tech fought back in the second to close the gap to 26-27 at halftime. Indiana Northwest responded with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 24-10 to extend their lead. Indiana Tech struggled to recover, and Indiana Northwest maintained its advantage through the final period.

Indiana Tech (2-1) was led by Genevieve Decker, who scored 14 points and secured a game-high 12 rebounds. Lauren Barton added 12 points and six rebounds, while Taylor Covington and Amaris Lowery scored seven points each, with Covington hitting one three-pointer on a tough shooting night (1-for-12 from beyond the arc).

Indiana Tech's offense faltered against the RedHawks' defense, shooting just 26.9% from the field and 10.3% from three-point range. Despite their efforts on the boards, where they out-rebounded Indiana Northwest 45-43, the Warriors could not capitalize on their second-chance points. The RedHawks' efficient third quarter (64.3% shooting) ultimately proved too much for the hosts to overcome.

The RedHawks will be back in action on Wednesday, November 6 when they host Rochester Christian University (1-2) at the Savannah Center for their first home regular season game of the year. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CDT.
