Hard Rock Northern Indiana Recap: RedHawks Dominant in 3-0 Sweep over Trinity Christian College

GARY, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest Women's volleyball team hosted Trinity Christian College in the Savannah Center Tuesday night. Entering the match, the RedHawks had a two-game win streak over Trolls dating back to 2021.

The first set was back and forth, with both teams putting together runs. The RedHawks went up by as many as four points, but the Trolls refused to go away. With the score at 24-23 in favor of the RedHawks, Erica Packwood set up Josephine Mulligan who put away the set with a kill.

In the second set, the Trolls responded immediately by taking a 9-3 lead. Briah Strezo was crucial for the RedHawks making multiple clutch digs to prevent the Trolls from extending their lead. IU Northwest used this momentum to mount a massive comeback, once again leading 24-23. Packwood set up Strezo, who recorded the set-deciding kill, finishing off a phenomenal comeback.

The RedHawks dominated the third set, never allowing the Trolls to take the lead, and hung on to win 25-18. This completed the sweep for IU Northwest.

Packwood led the RedHawks with 16 kills in the match. Mulligan recorded 17 assists, and Strezo added a match-high 14 digs.

The RedHawks' overall record improved to 12-13, and they are now 5-4 in the CCAC, currently sitting in fifth place in the conference. They will return to action Thursday, October 10, when they host Lourdes University at the Savannah Center for their final non-conference matchup of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CDT.
