Box Score GARY, Ind. - The Indiana University Northwest women's volleyball team hosted Lourdes University at the Savannah Center Thursday night, looking for its second win over the Grey Wolves this season. The two teams met in early September during the Liz Lykowski Tournament, where the RedHawks emerged victorious.
Lourdes entered the match hoping to snap a 10-game losing streak and got off to a strong start by taking the thrilling first set, 29-27.
The RedHawks responded by dominating the rest of the match, winning the last three sets 25-19, 25-11, and 25-17. Every time the Grey Wolves tried to gain momentum, IU Northwest had an answer.
Seniors
Erica Packwood and
Josephine Mulligan both posted triple-doubles, with Packwood tallying 26 assists, 18 kills, and 14 digs. Mulligan recorded 21 assists, 12 digs, and 11 kills.
Briah Strezo anchored the RedHawk back line with a match-high 32 digs. Substitutes
Kaelan Murphy and
Daija Pellot made an impact, as Murphy contributed 18 digs and Pellot added two aces.
For the Grey Wolves, Madison Smith led with 21 digs, while Katey Stakolich had 21 assists. Maddie White spearheaded the attack with 15 kills in the loss.
The win improves the RedHawks' overall record to 13-13 and keeps their CCAC record at 5-4, placing them in fifth in the conference. The RedHawks return to action next week when they host co-conference leader Viterbo University, which has a 6-0 record in the CCAC. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CDT at the Savannah Center.
