NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Samantha Martin finished the night with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team, but Holy Cross was a winner 80-64 Wednesday evening in CCAC play.
 
Katelyn Halfacre and Martin scored the first points for the RedHawks (12-9, 8-5), but at the 6:48 mark HCC took a lead it wouldn't lose. After the Saints went up eight Martin scored back-to-back buckets for IUN, which brought the deficit to four.
 
The RedHawks could not draw any closer in the second frame as they stayed within four on a Jessica Carrothers jumper early. However, HCC would eventually find itself up 13 near the end of the half before Carrothers sank a trifecta before the buzzer.
 
IUN was looking to capitalize on the momentum in the second half, but the Saints quickly extended their lead into double-digits after the RedHawks brought the game to eight.  The RedHawks couldn't go on another run but finished the night scoring the final points of the night on Maranda Mason's free throws.
 
The RedHawks return home Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they host Saint Xavier for Senior Day.
