GARY, Ind. – Behind
Jessica Carrothers school-record 44 points, the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team defeated Trinity Christian 83-61 in CCAC action inside the Savannah Center.
Carrothers night began with the first points of the game as she drained a jumper less than a minute into the contest. On the next trip down the floor
Makayla Best gave IUN the lead that would be held until late in the third quarter.
Early in the third frame, IUN jumped on top by 13 (36-23) after a pair of
Katelyn Halfacre free throws. However, over the next six minutes, TCC outscored the RedHawks 27-10 to take a 50-46 advantage.
IUN's offense then turned it on over the final 13 minutes which started with a Carrothers layup and was punctuated with her old fashion three-point play to break the school record that was previously set by RedHawk Hall of Famer Sharon Houston back in 2010.
Over those final 13 minutes IUN used a commanding 37-11 run to finish off the Trolls and move its record to 11-8 overall and 8-4 in league play.
For the game Best finished her night with a second consecutive double-digit performance as ashe poured in 14 points.
Khloe Patterson, meanwhile, tied her career-high with 10 rebounds, while Carrothers added nine boards and nine assists.
The RedHawks are back on the court Wednesday when they travel to Notre Dame, Ind., to battle Holy Cross at 5:30 p.m. (EST).
