DEERFIELD, Ill. – For the fifth time this season
Lamarius Lillard scored over 20 points to help lift the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team to an 87-65 victory at Trinity International Wednesday night in a CCAC contest.
The win pushed the RedHawks to a 12-13 mark overall and 11-6 in the conference and they are back to work Saturday at 3 p.m. against Calumet.
It was a tight contest early as both teams went point-for-point until
Malik Miller hit a jumper in the paint, which started a 15-1 momentum shifting run. The lead would grow to as much as 23 in the first half when
Jared Johnson hit from beyond the arc with 4:27 remaining.
The lead however got down to 11 (54-43), as TIU used a 10-3 swing to start the second period. Nearly five minutes later, however, IUN pushed the lead back over 20 as
Kionne Layne drained a trifecta and the lead would never get smaller than 17 over the final 9:48.
For the game, the RedHawks had four hit the double-digit mark in points with
De'Avion Washington scoring 11 off the bench on 3-of-5 shooting from outside.
