GARY, Ind. – Isaac Stanback scored 19 points, but a tough second half pushed cross town foe Calumet over the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team 71-60 Saturday afternoon inside the Savannah Center.
With the loss, the RedHawks are 12-14 overall and 11-7 in CCAC play and return to action at IU South Bend Wednesday.
A jumper by
Lamarius Lillard with a bit less than 13 minutes left in the opening half gave IUN a seven-point cushion. The Crimson Wave got the RedHawks lead down to one a few moments later, but a 7-0 swing which was capped off by a Lillard dunk pushed the lead to eight (22-14).
However, Calumet went into the locker room up after outscoring the RedHawks 24-13 over the final eight minutes.
Early in the second stanza Stanback nailed a jumper in the paint that gave IUN a slim one-point lead, but it was the final advantage for the RedHawks. The Crimson Wave scored down low with 15:17 remaining and they would hold on to the lead for good.
Lillard finished the game with 13 points, while
Jared Johnson grabbed nine rebounds, picked up five steals and scored seven points.
