SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team committed 21 turnovers in Monday's 87-65 loss at IU South Bend in the CCAC Tournament championship game.
With the loss, the RedHawks are now 24-6 and are back in action on Tuesday, March 7 in the first round of the NAIA Tournament.
During the opening period, IUN shot 57 percent from the field, but turned the ball over five times and eight points were scored off the RedHawk miscues. However, IUN settled down and got within six (38-32) late in the second quarter after a
Sarah Martin jumper.
RedHawks though could not get any closer than six as a Titan layup with 43 ticks left put the IUN deficit at 11 during halftime.
In the second half, an
Alyna Santiago layup put that game back in single digits (48-39), but it would not get closer than nine for the remainder of the contest. IUSB would eventually go up by as much as 23 late in the fourth.
For the game Santiago scored a team-best 12 points, while Martin and
Michaela Schmidt tallied 10 each.
