GARY, Ind. – Sarah Martin and
Makayla Best each scored over 20 points for the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team who was a 100-50 winner over Calumet Saturday afternoon in CCAC play.
The win was the 10 straight for the RedHawks as they move to 21-5 overall and 16-2 league action. IUN returns to the floor Wednesday at IU South Bend with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m. eastern time.
The RedHawks and Crimson Wave were tied early in the contest at two a piece until Martin hit from deep. Martin's trifecta jumped started a 15-2 run for IUN and the lead would go as high as 19 by the close of the opening quarter.
Late in the first period, Calumet scored, but the IUN defense held the Crimson Wave scoreless over the next five minutes. During that scoreless stretch, the RedHawks advantage would jump to 33 after
Tiara Jackson scored down low.
Jackson, meanwhile, finished the afternoon with her third double-double over the last four games.
Michaela Schmidt tallied 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and she pulled down five rebounds to round out the double figure scoring.
