SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Alyna Santiago scored 13 points to lead the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team, but rival IUSB took the season series with a 67-55 victory Wednesday night in CCAC play.
A rare loss for the RedHawks put them at 21-6 overall and 16-3 in the league play with the regular season finale set for Saturday inside the Savannah Center against St. Francis.
It took nearly seven minutes for the first bucket to be scored by IUN when
Tiara Jackson nailed a jumper inside the paint. The Titans by then were up 13, but the RedHawks would get their deficit down seven at the break when Santiago drained a three at the buzzer.
A IUSB run in the third period saw its lead jump to 20, but IUN had a momentum swing left and got within nine (62-53) with two minutes remaining. The RedHawks though could not draw any closer over the closing moments.
Along with Santiago,
Sarah Martin hit double figures as she poured in a dozen and picked up two steals. Jackson, meanwhile, scored eight points, grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds and swatted a shot.
