PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Chloe Roberts had a career-best 29 assists, while
Erica Packwood finished with her third triple-double of the season and the Indiana University Northwest volleyball team took down Trinity Christian in five-sets (23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-12) Tuesday night in conference action.
The RedHawks found themselves in a two-set hole and were down 6-2 in third, but a comeback shifted the momentum. Midway through the set, Packwood hit into an unforced error, but on the next play she smacked down one of her team-high 18 kills where it would give IUN a 15-14 advantage.
After that kill, the RedHawks would outscore TCC 10-6 and got a pair of kills from
Karly Jevert to secure the win.
IUN trailed 19-18 in the fourth frame called a timeout to slow the game down and following the break
Briah Strezo put a kill down to tie the contest. The RedHawks used a 7-4 spurt and a set winning Jevert kill to force a fifth stanza.
In the decisive fifth set IUN broke out to a 9-4 lead, but after a Trolls timeout they would get within two at 11-9. TCC, however would not get closer than two as the RedHawks would finish the match off with
Jaelyn Donald's 13 kill.
IUN remains in the Windy City for a Thursday evening battle with CCAC foe Roosevelt starting at 7 p.m.
