GARY, Ind. – Erica Packwood and
Briah Strezo combined for 15 kills Tuesday evening for the Indiana University Northwest volleyball team, but St. Ambrose took the series in straight sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-14) during CCAC play.
In first set action the RedHawks (8-20, 5-7) jumped out on top 7-4 following a
Jaelyn Donald kill, but SAU called a timeout and used a 6-1 run to grab an advantage. However, IUN continued fight and took the momentum late Donald kill to go up 20-19.
The Bees (13-14, 7-4) called their second timeout and went on a 6-3 spurt to grab the opening set victory.
SAU built 20-13 lead during second stanza play, but IUN was able to get within five following a Packwood kill. The Bees though would not allow the RedHawks to get any closer as they finished the set off with a kill.
Donald put down another one of her six kills in the third frame, which gave IUN an early 4-1 lead. SAU quickly took the lead and would go up 18-11, but
Karly Jevert had a solo block to get the RedHawks to a five-point deficit. IUN could not get closer than five as the Bees closed the match out on 7-1 swing.
That closes out the home slate for IUN in 2023, but the RedHawks return to action Saturday against St. Francis at 7 p.m.
