WHITING, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest volleyball team had three induvial double-doubles as it helped lead to a sweep (25-19, 25-15, 25-18) of conference rival Calumet St. Joseph's Tuesday night.
After back-to-back unforced errors by the Crimson Wave in the opener, the RedHawks were on top 13-5. Still with an eight-point (23-15) advantage late in the first set, IUN was looking to close it out, but four consecutive points allowed CCSJ to get close before the RedHawks closed things out.
IUN used a long rally after finding itself down 6-2 early in the second. In that 17-4 momentum shifting run, the RedHawks got multiple kills from
Chloe Roberts and
Briah Strezo, while
Baileigh Uporsky and Roberts teamed up for a block.
Down 6-4 in the final set, IUN used another long 11-2 rally to take control. The RedHawks got a pair of aces from
Julianna Picicco and three straight kills from Strezo. IUN then closed out the match with an
Erica Packwood kill, which gives her 187 for the season.
The RedHawks are back in the Savannah Center Thursday evening when they welcome IU South Bend to town for a 7 p.m. first serve.
