RedHawks overpower Holy Cross

GARY, Ind. – Anchored by Tiara Jackson's 17 rebound and 13 point effort, the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team picked up a 70-56 victory over Holy Cross Saturday afternoon in CCAC action.

The RedHawks improve to 18-5 overall and 13-2 in conference action and return to their home court Wednesday, Feb.1 to host Governors State.

With the contest going back and forth late in the third, Emma Schmidt drained a three at the buzzer to tie the game. The Chesterton, Ind., natives trifecta began a 30-13 run for IUN. To start the final period, Katelyn Halfacre and Schmidt hit back-to-back baskets to make it a five point game.

Then with three and a half minutes remaining Jackson scored down low to make it a 10 point margin. The RedHawks lead would eventually balloon to 17 following Karli Miller's bucket in the paint.

For Jackson it was her ninth double-double over the last 10 games, while Miller dished seven assists and picked up six steals to go along with 10 points.
