RedHawks Tame Tigers, Win Fourth Straight

Bourbonnais, Ill. – IU Northwest Women's Basketball riding the momentum of a Top 25 road win at No. 23 St. Francis looked to make it two straight on the road vs 2022 National Tournament Qualifiers when they matched up with the fast-paced Olivet Nazarene Tigers.
 
The RedHawks got off to a strong start taking the first quarter 23-18. ONU would bounce back in a lower scoring second quarter to close the IU Northwest margin to 36-35 at the break. The Tigers on the strength of their full court attacking and heavy three-point shooting style, would outscore IUN 28-23 in the third quarter to take a four-point advantage to the final quarter.
 
The RedHawks will would not be broken as they regrouped for a dominant third quarter 32-19 to close out the game and win by a final score of 91-82.  The win improved the RedHawks CCAC record to a perfect 5-0 while their overall record improved to 8-1. IU Northwest is an impressive 6-0 away from home this season.
 
The Redhawks were led by 2022 All-CCAC performer Michaela Schmidt who finished with a game high 27 points on 10-15 shooting, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
 
Tiara Jackson continued her early season domination of the CCAC going for 16 points (7-10 FG) 17 rebounds and 6 blocks. Sarah Martin and Karli Miller were also once again outstanding for the second straight game as Martin finished 17 points and 4 steals while Miller filled out the stat box with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks.
 
The RedHawks shot 52% from the floor while their stingy defense limited the Tigers to just 29% shooting on their home floor.
 
Up Next: The RedHawks (8-1 / 5-0) look to continue their winning ways and extend their four -ame winning streak when they travel to Huntington, Ind. this Wednesday to face the Foresters.  The game is set for a 6 p.m. tip.
