RedHawks Back in Win Column with Home Victory Over TIU

Gary, Ind. - IU Northwest Women's Basketball snapped a three-game losing skid with a convincing 85-50 win over visiting Trinity International Saturday afternoon at the Savannah Center.  The RedHawks dominated the game defensively by limiting the Trojans to just 28% shooting and forcing 27 TIU turnovers.  

The RedHawks used a balance offensive attack en route to 47% shooting. IU Northwest built a 36-22 lead at the break and extended it to 55-34 by the close of the third quarter. IU Northwest was led by Michaela Schmidt and her game high 16 points on 6-9 shooting. Schmidt also added 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Emma Schmidt notched a career high 13 points and 6 rebounds as she buried 3-4 from long distance. Makayla Best added 12 points. Abbie Tomblin also recorded a carer high 9 points off then bench for IUN. Madison Wirey added 8 points as the RedHawks bench outscored the Trojans 46-26.

With the win the RedHawks improved to 6-1 in the CCAC and remained just a half game out of first place while improving to 9-4 overall.

IU Northwest (9-4 / 6-1) return to action on Monday when they host No. 13 Indiana Tech for a 2 p.m tip at the Savannah Center.
