RedHawks Win, Despite Slow Start

Coach Ford Starts Season 1-0

Coach Jesse Ford's RedHawks got out to a slow start in the game against the Judson Eagles.  Katelyn Halfacre scored the RedHawks first five points of the game, but the RedHawks trailed 13-8 after the first quarter.

The RedHawks then went on a 14-4 run capped off by a Michaela Schmidt layup followed by a Judson timeout. The RedHawks outscored the Eagles 19-8 in the second quarter to take a first half lead into the locker room 27-21. Katelyn Halfacre led the RedHawks in scoring with 9 points at halftime.

A 9-4 run coming out of the locker room for the RedHawks made the score 36-23 rounded out by 4 points by Tiara Jackson off of 3 offensive rebounds. The teams traded baskets to end the quarter with a 46-37 lead.

The first minute of the 4th quarter saw Madison Wirey and Makayla Best with back-to-back jumpers to stretch the RedHawk lead to 13. After trading baskets, Sarah Martin hit a 3 pointer to make the RedHawks largest lead of the night (57-41) with 6:34 left in the game.  The Eagles outscored the RedHawks 9-4 the rest of the game with the RedHawks winning 61-50.

The RedHawks were led by Karli Miller and Tiara Jackson with 11 points and both completed double-doubles (Miller with 10 rebounds and Jackson with 14 rebounds).  Michaela Schmidt rounded out the RedHawks in double figures with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
