Men's Basketball Comeback Attempt Falls Short Against Roosevelt Wednesday

CHICAGO -- The Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team was unable to rally from behind Wednesday as the RedHawks dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup, 69-65, against host Roosevelt at the Goodman Center.

GAME RECAP
Roosevelt started the game with a basket then Jerron Tatum hit a three-pointer and Jared Johnson made a basket to make it 5-2 IU Northwest. Moments later, the Lakers went ahead 14-9 with 13:17 left.

Tatum knocked down another three and Tromon Weston made a basket to tie the contest at 14-all. Roosevelt went on a 12-4 run to go ahead 26-18. 

Damond Crosby looked to put the RedHawks right back in the game after making a three-pointer which made it 28-23 Roosevelt with 6:18 left before the break. The Lakers, however, went on a 12-1 run the rest of the half to go into the break ahead 40-24. 

Roosevelt opened up the second half with a 22-point lead (52-30). VaShawn Sims scored the next seven points for IU Northwest to make it 52-38 with just under 13 minutes remaining. 

Moments later, Johnson looked to swing the momentum over to the RedHawks side after converting on an and-one to it 54-43 Roosevelt. The Lakers were ahead 67-58 with 4:45 to play in the game. 

IU Northwest scored seven unanswered points to pull within two (67-65) after Johnson made a basket, Crosby made a three-pointer and Larry Lynch made a layup with 2:53 to play in the game. IU Northwest had multiple opportunities to tie or take the lead but the RedHawks were unable to capitalize as Roosevelt won 69-65.

IU Northwest will be back in action Saturday, January 15 as the RedHawks travel to (RV) Olivet Nazarene starting at 3 p.m. CT.
