Volleyball Suffers Defeat Against Governors State Thursday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. -- The Indiana University Northwest volleyball team was unable to come away with the victory on the road against CCAC opponent Governors State Thursday.

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: Governors State 25, IU Northwest 19

  • Both teams traded rallies early before GSU went up 14-12.
  • IU Northwest fought back and scored the next five points to make it 17-14.
  • Governors State responded right away with a four in a row of their own to grab a 18-17 lead.
  • The RedHawks made it as close as 20-19 Jaguars but Governors scored the last five of the set to win it 25-19.

SET 2: Governors State 29, IU Northwest 27

  • GSU and IU Northwest traded points in the early going again.
  • IUN led 11-8 after a rally but the Jaguars grabbed the lead after scoring four in a row to make it 12-11.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth again until it was 20-19 IU Northwest.
  • Governors State went on another rally scoring four unanswered to grab a 23-20 lead.
  • The RedHawks fought back and made it 25-all then 27 a piece.
  • GSU closed it out by winning the last two points to win the second set 29-27.

SET 3: Governors State 25, IU Northwest 17

  • GSU went up 7-1 early in the third set as the Jaguars looked to put the match away.
  • IU Northwest tried to rally and fight back and cut it down to 11-6. 
  • The Jaguars made it 15-7 then the RedHawks scored three in a row before GSU added five straight which made it 20-10. 
  • It was 21-11 then IU Northwest looked to make it close and scored four in a row but it was too late.
  • GSU won the third and final set of the match 25-17 to win 3-0.

UP NEXT

  • IU Northwest will be back in action Saturday, October 30 as the RedHawks travel to (RV) Olivet Nazarene to take on the Tigers starting at 1 p.m. CT.
