GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest junior outside hitter Amie Schutz has been named the Herff Jones RedHawk Athlete of the Week for Week 4 after helping the RedHawks earn two victories during the Oct. 5-10 competition window.
Schutz delivered a pair of strong performances as IU Northwest continued its run through Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, contributing offensively in a sweep of Saint Xavier on Oct. 8 before helping the RedHawks defeat Judson on the road Oct. 10.
Against Saint Xavier, Schutz recorded seven kills and two service aces as IU Northwest swept the Cougars 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-21) at the Savannah Center Gymnasium. The victory improved the RedHawks to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Schutz continued her strong play Saturday at Judson, recording 12 kills on a .357 hitting percentage in the RedHawks' 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) road victory. She added nine digs, one service ace and two blocks while leading all players with 14.5 points.
Schutz also delivered key points late in the opening set against Judson, recording the match-clinching kill to secure a 25-23 win. She added a service ace to close out the second set, helping IU Northwest build a 2-0 advantage before completing the sweep.
Across the two matches, Schutz totaled 19 kills, three service aces and nine digs as the RedHawks secured back-to-back conference victories.
A junior from Valparaiso, Indiana, Schutz has continued to serve as a key offensive contributor for IU Northwest throughout the 2026 season. Her consistency at the net and ability to deliver in important moments have helped the RedHawks maintain momentum as conference play continues.
Schutz and the RedHawks return to action Tuesday, Oct. 13, with a road matchup against Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana.
