Box Score

Wyoming, Mich. -- Freshman Will Carroll (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) scored the first ever hat trick in Indiana University Northwest men's soccer history as the RedHawks lost to Grace Christian University, 8-3.

Carroll put the RedHawks ahead early after receiving the ball from Cole Capps (DeMotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) in the third minute to score his sixth goal of the season. The Tigers responded with a goal from Brett Arnold to tie the match at 1-1.

After GC picked up a foul in the box, Carroll scored his seventh goal of the season in the 20th minute with a penalty kick to give the RedHawks a 2-1 lead.

Grace Christian had the response to tie the match at 2 after the goal by Zack Termeer. The Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the 34th minute after Tobias Jones scored a goal.

The lead doubled for GC after the Tigers went up 4-2 after Jared Farnsworth found the back of the net in the 37th minute.

The RedHawks tried to carry momentum going into the half and cut the deficit and the RedHawks did just that. Carroll secured the hat trick in the 40th minute for his third goal of the match and ninth of the season to make it a 4-3 match.

That score held at the break with the Tigers leading 4-3. Unfortunately, the RedHawks were held off the scoreboard in the second half but Grace Christian added four more goals.

Arnold scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute to put the Tigers ahead 5-3. Three minutes later in the 51st minute, Grace Christian doubled their lead again after Miguel Luna Alonzo knocked one through the back of the net.

In the 69th minute, Arnold secured a hat trick of his own after scoring his third goal of the match to give the Tigers a 7-3 lead. Arnold was not done as he added his fourth goal of the match in the 77th minute for the 8-3 lead.

That score would hold as Grace Christian defeated Indiana Northwest, 8-3. Freshman Maxwell Higgins (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) recorded six saves in the loss.

IUN has a two-week match break as the RedHawks return to action Saturday, October 26 as the RedHawks travel to Lincoln Christian University to take on the Lions starting at 2 p.m. CT.
