Biography
One of the nation's premi?re players, NAIA All-American and two-time A.I.I. Player of the Year Sharon Houston returns for her junior season. Houston has helped lead the RedHawks to back-to-back 20-win seasons and three national tournament appearances in her two seasons at IU Northwest. Sharon is already the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder and holds school season and single game records for points, rebounds and blocks. Houston poured in a career high 43 points on 1/30/2010 in a win over Marygrove and later eclipsed her own rebounding record snagging 26 boards in a homecoming win over Trinity International on 2/6/2010. On 11/20/2009 in a win over Goshen, Sharon recorded her third career triple double while setting a school record for blocks (12) in a single game. Four times Sharon has been named the NAIA National Player of the Week and received the same honor from the USCAA an astonishing 11 times over the past two seasons. Additionally she was named a USCAA First-Team All-American for the second straight year and helped lead IU Northwest to the 2010 USCAA National Final Four. For the second straight year Houston was named RedHawks' Team MVP. On Dec. 18, 2009, she became the first RedHawks player to eclipse 1,000 career points. As a prep, Sharon was an all-area and all-conference performer at both Lew Wallace and Merrillville High Schools. Sharon is majoring in criminal justice.
