Ben Chinn enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Indiana University Northwest men’s basketball program in 2025-26.
In his first season with the RedHawks, Chinn helped guide the team to a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular-season co-championship and an NAIA National Tournament appearance. The team earned multiple postseason honors, including a second-team NAIA All-American selection for Williams, CCAC First Team honors for both Williams and Smith, and a CCAC Second Team selection for Taylor.
Before arriving at IU Northwest, Chinn spent two seasons at Calumet College of St. Joseph, where he served as interim head coach in his final year. During that season, CCSJ produced two all-CCAC performers and secured a win over nationally ranked No. 13 Roosevelt University. His efforts earned him a third-place finish in the CCAC Coach of the Year voting.
Chinn began his collegiate coaching career at Trinity Christian College, where he spent three seasons as an assistant coach. Under his guidance, the team improved its win total each season and produced several all-conference honorees, including a first-team selection, a second-team selection, and multiple honorable mentions.
Prior to his collegiate career, Chinn spent two seasons as an assistant at Bosco Institute, where he contributed to the development of several Division I prospects and other high-level college athletes. As a high school head coach, he led the Morton Governors to a GSSC conference title and was named Conference Coach of the Year.
Chinn holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Regent University and earned bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education and Physical Education from Valparaiso University. He currently resides in Munster, Indiana, with his wife, Heather, and their two sons, Noah and Booker.
