GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest women's soccer forward Mari Williams has been named the Herff Jones RedHawk Athlete of the Week for Week 2 after continuing her strong start to the 2026 season.
Williams' recognition covers the Sept. 21-25 competition window, during which she continued to provide an offensive spark for the RedHawks and reached six goals on the season.
Williams found the back of the net in the 82nd minute of IUN's matchup at Olivet Nazarene on Sept. 23, finishing an assist from Teyha Guiden to give the RedHawks their lone goal of the match. Williams had also created opportunities throughout the contest, including a shot that rattled the crossbar in the 66th minute.
The goal marked Williams' sixth of the season and continued her role as one of the RedHawks' primary offensive threats. Through the opening portion of the season, she has consistently created scoring chances and helped lead IUN's attack.
Williams' goal against Olivet Nazarene came during a second-half push in which the RedHawks generated multiple opportunities. IUN finished the match with a 20-14 advantage in shots, including continued pressure after Williams' goal brought the RedHawks within three.
With six goals through the first nine matches of the season, Williams has established herself as a key contributor for the RedHawks as IUN continues its 2026 campaign.
