RedHawks Hold Off Calumet at Home on Coaches vs. Cancer Night

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest delivered a strong second-half effort Wednesday, holding off Calumet College of St. Joseph for a 64–58 victory at the Savannah Center on a night dedicated to Suits and Sneakers for Coaches vs. Cancer.

Prior to tipoff, IU Northwest welcomed a special guest in Sylvia Crawley Spann, who served as an honorary coach for the evening and was presented with a game ball in a pregame moment that set the tone for the night.

The RedHawks settled in early behind defensive energy and efficient execution, building momentum as the first half progressed. IU Northwest capitalized on stops and worked the ball inside to create quality looks, taking a 33–27 lead into halftime.

Calumet made its push after the break, cutting into the margin during the third quarter, but IU Northwest answered with key baskets and timely stops to maintain control. The RedHawks continued to find production from both the paint and the bench, and closed out the game at the free-throw line to secure the six-point win.

EJ Brown-Griffin powered IU Northwest with a double-double, finishing with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Madelyn Murray contributed 15 points, and freshman Isabella Soria added in 14 and six rebounds. Ava Kingery chipped in eight points and also reached a milestone during the win, moving into the Top 10 in the RedHawks' single-season record book for most 3-pointers made in a season, continuing her standout year from beyond the arc.

IU Northwest remains home for its next contest on Jan. 31, hosting IU South Bend at the Savannah Center as the RedHawks also honor the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees.
