GARY, Ind. — Senior forward EJ Brown-Griffin has been named the Herff Jones RedHawk Athlete of the Week for Week 16 following a dominant all-around performance to open Indiana University Northwest's women's basketball slate between Jan. 5 and Jan. 10.
Brown-Griffin starred in IUN's season opener against Judson University on Jan. 3, recording a standout stat line that anchored the RedHawks' offensive and rebounding efforts. She scored 18 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting performance, added 11 rebounds for a double-double and contributed two steals, showcasing her versatility on both ends of the floor. Brown-Griffin also played a team-high 33 minutes, providing leadership throughout the contest.
The senior from Chicago has been a consistent scoring threat and interior force for Indiana Northwest this season, ranking among team leaders in field-goal percentage and rebounds per game. Her ability to impact the game with scoring efficiency, physical inside play and defensive activity has made her a pivotal piece of the RedHawks' rotation.
Her defensive impact during the stretch did not go unnoticed, as Brown-Griffin was also named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9, recognizing her ability to disrupt opposing offenses, protect the rim and generate stops in key moments.
For her commanding double-double and all-around impact in the Week 16 window, EJ Brown-Griffin is recognized as the Herff Jones RedHawk Athlete of the Week.
