IUN Athletes Nab CCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Information courtesy of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference

GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest had a strong showing in the latest Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly honors, as Trinitie Lintner (women's volleyball) and Devun Collins (men's soccer) each earned CCAC Defensive Player of the Week awards, the league office announced Tuesday.

On the volleyball court, Lintner blocked her way to the defensive weekly honor. The sophomore middle blocker totaled 13 blocks (nine solo) for a 1.44 average, while also contributing 14 kills and a .276 attack percentage. Lintner produced an incredible 11 blocks (2.2 avg.) in a five-set loss to Saint Xavier University last Tuesday before adding two more blocks in a four-set win over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Thursday, collecting nine kills in that contest.

In men's soccer, Collins captured the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week accord after allowing just one goal while tallying nine saves across two contests. His biggest moment came Saturday against Judson University, when he denied a penalty kick to keep the match scoreless. Collins went on to record four saves in the 0-0 draw, registering his second shutout of the season.

These honors reflect not just individual excellence, but also the defensive strength that IUN teams are building this season.
