GARY, Ind. – Indiana University Northwest Athletics has announced the induction of two distinguished figures into the Athletics Hall of Fame. Megan Holland, a record-setting women's basketball standout from 2012-2014, and Ryan Shelton, the winningest coach in school history and current Director of Athletics, will be enshrined as members of the 2025 Hall of Fame Class.
Megan Holland – Women's Basketball (2012-2014)
Holland cemented her place in RedHawk
s history as one of the program's most prolific scorers. In just two seasons, she eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone while leading IU Northwest to new heights on the court. A two-time First Team All-Conference selection, Holland was the NAIA national leader in field goal percentage in 2012-13 (68 percent) and ranked second nationally in 2013-14 (59 percent).
Her 2013-14 campaign was highlighted by being named the A.I.I. Player of the Year, earning NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors, and ranking 17th nationally in scoring at 19.2 points per game. That same season, she powered the RedHawks to the regular season A.I.I. Championship. Holland's career high came on Feb. 6, 2014, when she scored 38 points against Robert Morris.
She graduated from IU Northwest in 2014 with a Bachelor of General Studies degree and later earned her Master of Business Administration from the university in 2016.
Ryan Shelton – Women's Basketball Head Coach (2007-2021), Director of Athletics (2017-present)
Shelton arrived at IU Northwest in 2007 to lead a struggling women's basketball program and transformed it into a perennial contender. Over 14 seasons, he compiled a school-record 239 victories, including eight 20-win campaigns. His teams made 11 postseason appearances, including four NAIA National Tournament trips. Under his leadership, the RedHawks won back-to-back A.I.I. Championships in 2009-10 and 2010-11 and reached the program's only NAIA Sweet 16 in 2018-19.
Shelton was named A.I.I. Coach of the Year four times and guided seven conference players of the year and nine NAIA All-American honorees. His tenure also included signature wins, including a victory over NCAA Division I Chicago State on Feb. 1, 2012. His 2011-12 team set program records for most wins in a season (27) and longest winning streak (17).
In 2017, Shelton transitioned into the role of Director of Athletics, where he has continued to shape the trajectory of IU Northwest Athletics. He spearheaded unprecedented fundraising efforts that resulted in transformative facility enhancements in the Savannah Center athletic facility, including the addition Hall of Champions interactive exhibit.
Shelton also oversaw the athletic department's transition into the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2019, expanded sports medicine programming, and launched the RedHawks Golf Classic, a major fundraising initiative supporting student-athlete scholarships. In 2024, he was recognized as the CCAC Athletic Director of the Year.
The RedHawks Hall of Fame induction for Holland and Shelton will take place later this year on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 on the IU Northwest campus before the men's and women's basketball games. More information, along with ticketing information will be released at a later date.
