RedHawks Volleyball Sweep Mount Mary, Take CCAC Lead

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest volleyball continued its strong conference start Tuesday night, sweeping Mount Mary 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-12) inside the Savannah Center to remain unbeaten in CCAC play and take sole possession of first place.

The RedHawks (7-10, 4-0 CCAC) stretched their win streak against Mount Mary to five straight in the programs' history, using a balanced attack and stifling defense to control the match from start to finish.

IU Northwest set the tone in the opening frame, jumping out to a 12-3 lead behind kills from Baileigh Uporsky and Raniyah Preston, plus a pair of blocks from Gabi Lilovich. Preston later added a service ace to push the margin, and Abby Allen closed the set with back-to-back plays as the RedHawks cruised 25-10.

Mount Mary hung closer in the second set, pulling even at 6-6 before IUN took command. Trinitie Lintner provided a spark with a pair of kills, and Lilovich and Kaelan Murphy chipped in at the net. Preston's service ace and a run of three straight kills from Lintner stretched the lead as the RedHawks pulled away 25-16.

In the third, IU Northwest left no doubt. Preston and Krueger connected for early kills, while freshman Kylie McCabe stepped in with back-to-back service aces to push the lead to double digits. Lintner put the match out of reach with her eighth kill of the night, and Lilovich finished it off for the 25-12 win.

Preston paced the RedHawks with eight kills and 14 assists, hitting .545 on the night. Lintner added eight kills on .462 hitting, while Lilovich tallied seven kills, 12 assists, and three blocks. Everett anchored the defense with 10 digs.

IU Northwest will hit the road Thursday, Sept. 18, traveling to Palos Heights, Ill., to face Trinity Christian at 7 p.m.
